Spain continues to take over headlines with public demonstrations protesting tourism, but that hasn’t quelled travelers’ desire to visit one of Europe’s most fascinating (and affordable) countries.
While certain cities getcha with their ‘gotcha tactics’ in touristy areas, much of Spain is reasonably priced if you’re willing to explore beyond the norm of Barcelona and party-centric Ibiza.

Based on a thorough study by TravelSupermarket, The Sun just revealed Spain’s cheapest vacation spot this summer and it’s a relatively unknown coastal hideaway without the unsightly marches of locals claiming you’re unwelcome.
Lined with golden beaches, whitewashed hillsides, and vast vineyards, the lesser-known Manilva of Spain’s vibrant Costa del Sol has been crowned the country’s cheapest summer destination.
Manilva: Costa del Sol’s Best Kept Secret
Travelers from far and wide seek the Costa del Sol for an unforgettable beach vacation.
With more popular cities like Malaga and Marbella, it’s easy to see why places like Manilva are overlooked.

With scenic wineries, world-class golf courses, and 16 distinct beaches to choose from, Manilva is full of surprising delights.
Of course, no matter how you pack your itinerary, you’ll always have a stunning backdrop of traditional whitewashed pueblos perched hillside overlooking Manilva’s vivid blue waters crashing ashore — some of which are for rent through local agencies or one of many vacation rental apps used nowadays, such as Airbnb.
Like much of Spain, Manilva is steeped in history and offers fascinating sites that have stood the test of time.

Make sure you don’t skip out on the timeless 18th-century Castillo de la Duquesa and the Baños de la Hedionda — a 2000 year-old Roman bath site you can still enjoy today in the heat of summer!
Spain’s Most Underrated Wine Destination
Whether you’re a wine lover back home or not, hopefully, your college days of sipping Two-Buck Chuck and boxes of Franzia didn’t ruin the magic of how great wine can truly be.
Plus, isn’t it nice to escape the bustle of big cities? Finding a countryside winery is the perfect excuse no matter where you, but Manilva makes it even more enticing.

According to The Sun, Travel Supermarket’s Head of Editorial, Steph Marinkovic, claims “Locals have been growing Moscatel grapes here for generations, traditionally for sweet wines and raisins”.
She adds, ‘producers like Nilva are reviving the tradition with modern dry whites, and visitors can tour vineyards, taste wines, and buy bottles at a fraction of the cost you’d pay in France or Italy’.
While I may not be aging like fine wine, I can attest that wine truly flows like water in Spain as my trip to Mallorca became an unexpected wino with glass after glass of cheap local wine gracing my lips, accompanied by endless plates of complimentary tapas.

Your expectations in Manilva shouldn’t be far off what I experienced in Mallorca, as the region is laced with cozy wine bars and sprawling vineyards.
Free tapas are offered in some establishments as inflation hasn’t hit Spain like it has here, where there’s no such thing as a “dollar menu” anymore.
While not free, tourists and locals alike love visiting The Flying Squirrel for its extensive menu with affordable prices.
Spain’s Most Affordable Summer Vacation

The Sun did the dirty work for us, concluding a weeklong stay in Manilva totals $502 per person, making it the cheapest summer vacation in Spain.
Whether it’s beachside dinners, insightful tours, or where you rest your head at night, Manilva is a wallet-friendly getaway across the board.
San Luis de Sabinillas is a vibrant beach community within Manilva’s confines. It’s where you want to look for beachfront boutique stays such as Hotel Don Agustín and Santorini-esque Hotel Doña Luisa, both under $150 per night.

This is also where you’ll find Blue Flag-certified Sabinillas Beach — a must for the perfect beach day.
For the cheapest eats amongst serene scenery, you’ll want to check out Manilva’s beautiful Marina De La Duquesa, lined with seafood restaurants, buzzing bars, and stunning coastal views.
